Advocates for the Whole Child is grounded in core values of equity, compassion, advocacy, collaboration, integrity, and educational empowerment. We believe every child deserves access to a quality education, individualized support, and opportunities to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to partnering with families through culturally responsive practices, respect, and meaningful guidance that empowers parents to confidently advocate for their child’s educational needs. We also value strong collaboration with school districts, teachers, service providers, and families to support positive educational outcomes for children.

Advocates for the Whole Child is an educational agency that provides consulting, parent education workshops, and advocacy services to families navigating the special education system. Our advocates are experienced educators with many years of teaching experience across K–college levels and a strong background working directly with children and young adults.

In addition to advocacy services, we offer workshops designed to help parents better understand the educational process, including IEPs, 504 Plans, eligibility categories, assessment procedures, parent rights, communication strategies with schools, and how to effectively support their child’s academic and emotional success. Workshops also address related areas such as behavioral supports, transition planning, social-emotional development, and collaboration with school teams.

The agency operates as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) and is dedicated to supporting families in securing appropriate educational services for their children within public school systems while fostering inclusive learning environments where every child feels valued, supported, and capable of success.

About

Kimberly M. Cooke

I am a Special Education Teacher with 15+ years of experience. Having sat on all sides of the table—as a parent, special education teacher, and advocate—I bring a unique perspective and deep understanding of the process.

Over the years, I’ve developed strong working relationships with district staff and know how to collaborate effectively as part of the IEP team. My goal is always to work with schools to brainstorm solutions, build individualized education plans that fit each child, and achieve the best possible outcomes for students and families.

Parents describe my approach as calm, honest, and practical. I walk alongside families through every step of their journey in special education, offering expertise, energy, and—most importantly—hope.
If you are a parent seeking guidance or collaboration, I’d love to connect.

I attended St. Mary's College in Moraga where I studied Liberal Studies and recieved my multiple subject teaching credential. I, then, attended UCLA and recieved my mild/moderate teaching credential. To help myself  understand special education law I atteneded The University of San Diego School of Law and received a certificate in Special Education Law and Advocacy Series (SELAS).
